Pow Wow Regalia

The Story Behind the Pow Wow Regalia

Pow Wow regalia is not costume. It is identity in motion.

Every piece of regalia created by Dawn Castro is made by hand, guided by tradition, patience, and deep respect for the meaning behind each element. In Native culture, regalia reflects personal journey, family ties, spiritual grounding, and community connection. Nothing is random. Every color, bead, feather, fringe, and stitch carries intention.

Dawn’s work follows the old way—slow, deliberate, and purposeful. Pieces are built over time, often evolving as the dancer’s story evolves. Some designs honor ancestry, some mark transition or healing, and others celebrate strength, endurance, or gratitude. Regalia is never rushed, and it is never mass-produced.

Because each piece is handcrafted and culturally rooted, no two are ever the same. Once completed, a piece stands as its own expression of story and spirit. For this reason, all regalia is limited edition, and once released, it is not recreated.

Pow Wow regalia is meant to be worn with pride and responsibility. It moves with the drum, carries the weight of history, and speaks without words. When Dawn creates regalia, she is not making something to be worn once—she is helping carry tradition forward, step by step, dance by dance.
